Flowers and Mother’s Day!

Flowers are an essential part of any good Mother’s Day.  I’m staying at my grandma’s house right now, and she is an avid gardener who knows a thing or two about said flowers.  She’s also the mother of 5 children, so she’s quite experienced in Mothers day as well.  I often come to her for advice on just what exactly my mom would enjoy as a gift.

Last year I went with 1800flowers for Mother’s day and had a very good reception.  All my other siblings didn’t have anything to match my bouquet of orchids.  I won last year’s competition.  This year, I really need to step it up to beat them again, anyone have some suggestions?

Adult Care Homes

My grandmother, who is 89, has just recently had her age catch up with her. She’s finally going to need in-home assistance, so I’ve been doing a bit of research on what she’ll need.  Homecare Phoenix has an excellent website that I’ve been using a resource. Home Care Phoenix has also listed exactly what I can expect in regards to home care services, so I know where I stand with what’s offered. Just off their front page they offer bathing and dressing, medication assistance, grocery shopping and cooking, laundry and housekeeping, adult day care, concierge services, and convalescent care. That is comprehensive!

I’ve seen care givers in other homes before, but never with my own family, so I want to get this right. Phoenix Homecare looks like a good choice to me, especially with their wide range of services.

I’m Blind!

I’m 23 years old, and already it looks like glasses are in my future.  Seems I developed psuedo-myopia from the strain my eyes took in college.  Reading endless books and lots of work on a laptop combined with straining to see blackboards in lecture 20 yards away = glasses.  Here I am young and spry, and I’m going to end up looking like my professors, minus the baldness.

The real question is what style I’m going to get when my eyes go.  Horn-rim, tortoise-shell, rimless, old people aviator style?  Glasses are a new thing for me, I’m just a neophyte here.  Anyone have some advice on what to go with?  Eyeglasses.com seems to have good selection and a variety of styles, and they fit my fresh out of college price range.

Shasta Pools

Shasta Pools are known throughout Phoenix for having constructed more pools than any other company in the area.  They have wonderful designs and offer custom solutions for customers that are in need of a place to cool off during the summer.  Shasta Pools has also latched onto another growing trend, that of outdoor water fixtures at malls.  Malls have increasingly moved to outdoor fixtures, and cool water features are a specialty of Shasta Pools.

If you need a great pool at a great price in the Phoenix area, you cannot go wrong by having Shasta Pools build your dream lagoon.  They have a great reputation and great service.

Amos Tamam

Amos Tamam and taxis should be synonymous with one another.  He is the man behind VeriFone Transportation Systems, and he is outfitting all New York City cabs with credit card readers and information terminals.  Amos Tamam can find transportation solutions using a variety of different technologies, and their fleetwide roll out of the technology in New York City is being beta tested in both Chicago and Las Vegas.

If you are considering upgrading your own taxi fleet with the best of what transportation technology has to offer, Amos Tamam can probably find that solution for you.  I am sure customers would appreciate amenities like the data terminal!

Power Properties

Power Properties is a force in Dallas, reinvigorating and restoring old neighborhoods for young professionals to live in.  Started by two brothers in Old East Dallas, Power Properties has quickly grown to the point that they are now designing and building their own apartment complexes instead of rehabilitating old ones.  They are a success story that I would love to mirror myself, since I have a big interest in getting into real estate.

Power Properties is a definite force in building quality apartment complexes for young professionals in Dallas, and if I was looking for a great value in a home in Dallas they would be my first stop.  I am a big fan of condo style living!

Paul Offit

Paul Offit knows a thing or two about vaccines.  His new book lampoons the anti-vaccine lobbyists, who have convinced many that there is a link between vaccination and autism.  Paul Offit disagrees wholeheartedly with that sentiment, and uses scientific fact to refute all of the anti-vaccination side’s claims.  As the son of a doctor, I personally identify with scientific study and evidence over fear-mongering and outlandish claims.

Paul Offit has developed vaccines himself in addition to being a head of pediatric medicine, so he also has the credentials to back up his claims.  It really should not be an issue when faced with scientific fact, but people will continute to stir the pot I suppose.

K-Designers

K-Designers is one of the largest and most successful exterior redecorating companies in the United States, and for good reason.  Originally started with the idea of capitalizing on a large hail storm, the company quickly grew and now K-Designers has over $61 million in sales each year.  It is very hard to argue with that kind of success!

K-Designers has enjoyed comfortable throughout the company’s history, but the recent economic downturn exposed problems that needed fixing.  Luckily, the company was quick to respond and is now more streamlined than ever.  If you need windows, siding, or entry door work done, this is the company to go to!

Frank Hanna

Frank Hanna is a man that knows how to guage success.  Since 1989 he has established a great track record of effective investing strategies that has seen the money under his management grow from $160,00 to over $4 billion.  Frank Hanna is a man that achieves results, and looks at things realistically instead of with wishful thinking.  And that is important when you are talking about investing massive amounts of capital.

Frank Hanna and his company are sure to garner the results you want, be it through for-profit or through non-profit ventures.  With a track record like his, I would be very comfortable putting my money in his company.  Now if only I had money laying around to invest right now!

Linus Gitahi

Linus Gitahi is GlaxoSmithKline’s man.  Or at least he was until he broke off to join Nation Media Group as their head of of African marketing.  Linus Gitahi has been a successful executive for years now, across two very different companies.  He currently serves East and Central Africa with both print and electronic media, and is the best man for the job should you need to get the word out on something there.

Linus Gitahi is a hard working executive who knows how to achieve results, as evidenced by his excellent track record at various companies.  If you need advice or consultation on how to operate within Africa, I think he would make an excellent choice by all accounts.
